Take a moment: five things that caught my eye this week

Here’s a pick of some of the posts I enjoyed the most on my favourite blogs and design websites this week.

1. I discovered Warsaw-based this is paper magazine. I love the layout of their magazine, it’s what I aspire my blog to look like. They also have a really cool feature called this is paper guide, which invites readers to join the challenge of locating and pinning travel destinations across the world, from buildings and art galleries, to places to stay and eat.

2. It was World Book Day yesterday, and Things Magazine featured a comprehensive visual list of every Pelican book since the 1930s. You can browse the books by year and view all the beautiful blue covers.

3. I read an interesting article on the Guardian asking if Google Glass- the head-mounted glasses that can shoot video, take pictures, and broadcast what you’re seeing to the world- is a threat to our privacy.

4. I discovered Magpile, a social tool for people (like me) who love and read magazines. It lets readers list the magazines they own and keep track of issues they want. You can also discover new magazines by browsing the archive and by seeing what your friends are reading.

5. I love this espresso maker for the microwave featured on Design Milk. Brothers Christoph and Hendrik Meyl designed a cup which you fill with water and coffee, stack and place in the microwave. The microwave lets the pressure build up and pushes the water through the coffee.

In case you missed it:

1. An interview with two lovely ladies who aren’t your ordinary florists

2. Images from a recent trip to Margate

3. A chair made out of workshop waste

Is there anything you saw? What’s your favourite blog?
