I wish I lived here: 3 beautiful Scandi kitchens

My own kitchen in my flat is dark and small, with windows looking onto the communal hallway and shiny white units that have been there for years. There’s nothing really wrong with the kitchen itself, the Ikea units have lasted remarkably well, and there’s elements I like, but I never photograph it for my blog because it’s just not very photogenic and the natural lighting is terrible. Oh how I would love to replace the steel splash back with some new ceramic tiles, perhaps change the handles or simply clear out some of the clutter.

While browsing Swedish website Entrance, always a good source of home interior inspiration, I found myself honing in on these three beautiful Scandi kitchens. Usually for a ‘I wish I lived here’ post I focus on one complete home tour, showing all the spaces from bedroom to living room. But here I simply couldn’t decide which one of these to feature so decided to feature them all!

From pastel painted units and rustic tables, through exposed brick walls and metro tiles to clean white lines and concrete worktops, these three have got it all and lots of ideas to steal. I would love space in my kitchen for a big communal dining table, not to mention that amazing fireplace, or open shelving and industrial-style trolleys for showing off various knick-knacks.

Scandi Kitchen no. 1

I love this kitchen’s calm feel, with the pale grey walls, pastel green walls and bleached wooden floors. And what a wonderful display of ceramics. From this look I’d steal the big wooden table and beautiful black bentwood chairs as well as that simple black pendant light; it juxtaposes the elaborate chandelier and keeps the room modern.

Scandi Kitchen no. 2 This is a very different look: more New York loft than smart Scandinavian country. I have similar metal open shelving in my kitchen and it can be great to show off favourite mugs, pots and bowls (as long as you have plenty of storage for all the other ugly stuff!!). Here the space is softened by a wall of white tiles on the other side of the room and a cosy dining nook. I’d steal those metal carts for my coffee machine, cook book and pots of herbs. scandi-kitchen-8 scandi-kitchen-9 scandi-kitchen-10 scandi-kitchen-11 Shop the look:

Scandi Kitchen no. 3

This look is a lot cleaner and modern, that concrete worktop wrapping around the unit to the floor is just lovely. Open shelving here has been used more for decoration than functionality, for showing off those pretty tins, bottles of oil and condiments or fruit. The space just looks so light and airy with white walls, white tiles and white units. What I’d steal from this look? Those wonderful hanging brass lights and the concrete worktop of course!
