I wish I lived here: a neutral, earthy home tour

By the time you read this, I’ll be sunning myself in Australia (sorry not sorry and all that…), so in the meantime, here’s a lovely Scandinavian home tour to keep you going until I get back from holiday. This one, a two-bedroom apartment in Gothenburg, is simply stunning – I really do wish I lived here. I could more straight in, no problem. In fact, when can I get the keys?

The spacious rooms feature a beautiful, soft, neutral colour palette, that extends from a light grey-beige in the living room, through earth wood tones in the kitchen, to calming blue-greys in the bedroom. Natural textures provide a cosy, warm setting – I can just imagine sinking into that linen-covered sofa below or walking barefoot on that shaggy carpet. There’s something quite autumnal about the colours, while smart monochrome accessories – black and white framed prints and task lighting – keep the space contemporary.

An aged table sits at the heart of the kitchen, surrounded by a mis-match of black dining chairs.

The extractor fan has been cleverly hidden by a simple box and the splashback has been kept minimal with finely veined marble. They even make plug sockets look stylish, those Scandinavians…

And can we talk about those crittall windows? I love how they give an industrial look, while allowing light to flood into a small home office adjacent to the living room. I think it was once one big room originally, but now these black framed windows carefully divide off the space to create quiet areas to retreat to.

The small office space is luxed up with plush velvet Gubi chair and a marble desk. I’m looking for a old vintage medical cabinet like the one below myself, to display cups and ceramics in the kitchen.

The bedroom is the brightest of the rooms, kept light and airy with white walls and furniture. Sunlight floods in from the balcony doors, while soft linen gives a relaxed look to the room (because you know, who can be bothered to iron sheets?!). You’d find me here, sipping on a coffee, reading a book and watching the world go by…
