On My Radar #09: five new homeware finds

I haven’t written an ‘On My Radar’ post in a little while now, but I’ve found five beautiful, new homeware designs to make up for it! Whether you’re a stationery lover and art print collector, or looking for a new side table or bedside lamp, there’s some lovely pieces here to catch your eye.

NOTEM Studio
Founded this year, Copenhagen-based NOTEM Studio produces a beautiful collection of stationery using the highest quality Scandinavian paper. Think candy striped, pocket-sized notebooks, work journals with neatly ordered pages for thoughts and ideas, and oversized monthly planners with richly coloured covers.

They say: ‘NOTEM reflects a straightforward and functional approach to design. Rooted in the Scandinavian design tradition of space and light, our products are simple, aesthetic and easy to use.

‘We are inspired by human nature, by the way we keep track of things, by our sense of time and our memory. It is our mission to make paper add new value to your daily habits and your everyday tasks.’

Prices start at £6. Available to buy in the UK from Nabo Shop. Images courtesy Notem Studio

New prints from Kristina Krogh
Danish designer Kristina Krogh, whose stunning work I’ve featured before here, has unveiled a new collection of work, ranging from paper cuts and three dimensional folded artworks to drawings and paintings.

A new series ‘Sky Transformations’ comprises six works inspired by the colour transformation of the sky and the landscape in one day. The limited edition giclée prints are made from Kristina’s original pencil drawings and feature a distinctive textured surface that catches the light.

Other delicate works feature a paper cut created from a sheet of shiny mirror paper, set in a simple frame by Danish design company Moebe.

Prints start at €88.00Images copyright © 2017 Kristina Krogh

Organic cotton tea towels from Vipp
We know Danish design company Vipp for its simple, utilitarian pedal bins, but now they’ve added another covetable item for the kitchen to their roster, with a new set of organic cotton tea towels. Available in grey and black, the tea towels are woven in two-toned organic cotton and fitted with a practical rubber strap finished with stainless steel rivets. Stylish and functional.

Pack of two tea towels priced at £25. Available in stores and online from 1 November

New side tables from Skagerak
Danish design company Skagerak has added a couple of new members to its collection of side tables, to bring the family up to six. One of my favourites, the first image below, is the versatile, Bauhaus-style Building Table designed by Spanish design duo Bicolter. Available in two sizes, the angular, oak design can be slotted together and combined in various arrangements.

Another design that caught my eye was the By Your Side Table designed by Maximilian Schmahl. It’s a simple aluminum tray-table with a soft teak handle that can be used inside and easily brought outside too.

PIN by Ichiro Iwasaki for Vibia
Designed by Ichiro Iwasaki for lighting company Vibia, the PIN wall light is a simple, playful design defined by soft, rounded forms. The minimal form has clean, slender lines, punctuated by a circular base and dome shade. It is powered by an LED, emitting a soft, ambient glow.

Says Vibia: ‘Whether displayed individually or in customised combinations that can be tailored to your space, it creates a stunning sculptural statement with a distinctly playful appeal. Arrayed across a blank expanse of wall, the designs resemble a series of abstract symbols whose tips radiate in a gleaming nimbus of light.’
