Types of data I collect and why
Personal information may be provided voluntarily by the user or collected automatically when using this website.
Personal information such as your name and email address is collected when you leave a comment on a blog post or page, email me directly and when you subscribe to my newsletter.
Additionally, the website may use third-party service providers to service various aspects of the website. Each third-party service provider’s use of your personal information is dictated by their respective privacy policies.
Comments – Once you have commented on a blog post and the comment has been approved, your name and website (if provided) are visible to the public.
Comments, including your name, email address, website and IP address, are shared with the Akismet service to determine if your comment is spam or not, please read Akismet’s privacy policy here.
MailChimp – The data from my newsletter subscribers is held by a third-party provider, MailChimp, and is password protected.
I use that information to inform you, every two weeks (or sometimes a bit less if I’m not very organised!), about new blog posts on the website and any news related to the blog; to contact you if I need to obtain or provide additional information; to occasionally check my records are correct and make sure you’re happy with the content I’m providing. Within these newsletters I may periodically promote my interior design services or share special offers as part of brand partnerships.
I don’t sell or trade email addresses with other organisations or businesses.
I gather statistics via MailChimp on email openings and clicks from the newsletter to better improve the content of my newsletters. For more information please read MailChimp’s privacy policy here.
You can unsubscribe to my newsletter at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any emails you receive from me.
Google Analytics – I use Google Analytics to track and examine the use of this website, collect standard internet log information and details of visitor behaviour patterns, such as location and pages accessed. I do this to better understand which blog posts do well and where traffic is coming from, so I can constantly strive to improve my content and tailor it to suit my audience. WordPress.com – If you are a WordPress.com user and logged into WordPress when commenting on this website, WordPress may track your visit and keep a record of your comment in line with their own cookie and privacy policy, which you can see here.
Jetpack – This service, like Google Analytics, tracks website usage and provides information such as referring websites and user actions on the website. Jetpack may capture your IP address but no other personal information is captured. Please see their privacy policy here.
Cookies – I may log information using cookies, which are small data files stored on your browser by the website (I may also be found eating cookies while blogging and those definitely won’t be shared…). The website may use both session cookies, which expire when you close your browser, and persistent cookies, which stay on your browser until deleted, to provide you with a more personalised experience on the website.
Except when required by law, I will not sell, distribute, or reveal your email addresses or other personal information without your consent.
