Have you got a decorating project but stuck for ideas? Need some inspiration and not sure where to start? Or indeed, where to look? Where to source that lovely vintage armchair or mid-century dining table but perhaps lacking the time? Fancy a refresh or restyle? Hire me!
After years of slowly decorating my own little flat in London’s Bloomsbury, friends and family would come around, asking me where I got certain items, if I could re-style their own living rooms or simply what paint colour I would recommend. Soon, readers and fans on Instagram were contacting me for exactly the same reasons, after seeing snaps of my own home here. I already featured lots of lovely interior ideas and inspiration on the blog, so it seemed like a natural progression to offer interior design advice to proper clients. Now, I have my first ‘official’ client and project renovating a holiday home in Devon.
With a background in architecture (a degree + masters at The Bartlett, University College London) and later journalism, I combine my knowledge of spatial planning and design with my passion for light, relaxed, Scandi-inspired interiors as seen on the blog. Inspired by humanist and modernist architects such as Alvar Aalto, Arne Jacobsen and Eileen Gray, for me the feel of a room is as important as its look. It’s all about the experience of a space – I want to design places that make people feel good and ultimately feel at home – those little clever design features that elevate the everyday.
It is my aim to create warm, intimate, contemporary spaces that adapt and evolve with the user, whether it’s through a connection to nature, classic furniture designs that stand the test of time or those hard-to-quantify factors that make a house a home.
