Pure Linen bedding white, grey, blush

Pure flax bedding by Telu Linen Co.

There is nothing better than a bed freshly made with linen sheets – the soft texture and relaxed, naturally crumpled fabric looking oh so inviting. But where to buy it? Telu Linen Co. is a new luxury textile company selling pure flax bedding and wool throws – without the luxury price tag – that has just launched on Kickstarter. The family business was founded by Cornel and Michelle Driessen, who found inspiration for the name Telu from their children’s names, Tehila and Lukas. Telu Linen Co. shortens the supply train, dealing directly with manufacturers in Free Trade Partners countries and passing savings on to customers. So you get the luxurious experience of linen, without the hefty mark-up. Telu Linen Co.’s products are created from 100% pure linen made from raw flax. It’s a naturally strong fibre that’s breathable and temperature regulating, perfect for the warmer evenings, but equally ideal in winter. The duvets come in a lovely soft blush (is it millennial pink now?!), grey and pure white. Don’t these images make you want to dive right in to their crumpled folds? …

Beni Ourain moroccan rug

The Beni Ourain Moroccan rug of dreams

Beni Ourain Moroccan rugs seem to be everywhere at the moment, all the top high street and online brands seem to be doing versions of them and after seeing them in numerous beautiful homes, I’ve long wanted one of my own. But, I can’t exactly jet off to Morocco at the click of my fingers just for a rug, nor can I really be bothered with all that bartering. So I was super excited when Sukhi rugs got in touch, offering to send me the real deal – one of their signature Beni Ourain rugs handcrafted in Morocco. Beni Ourain rugs are traditionally made by nomadic Berber tribes deep in Morocco’s rugged Atlas Mountains using a specific breed of sheep renowned for its rich, high quality wool. Thick and warm, the wool creates a deep shaggy pile rug that’s 100% undyed. Signature dark brown lines and geometric shapes on the white or cream background tell stories from each weaver’s life or reference natural events, from birth and fertility to rural life. I chose the Naima rug with its …

Spring bedroom updates

The sun is shining, the weather’s hotting up and I think it’s time to shed the thick wool blankets and cosy bedding in favour of soft French linen and bright pastel shades in the bedroom. With Spring in full bloom, I feel the need to refresh, de-clutter and brighten up my home. I’m thinking lots of calming natural textures, clusters of plants (if I can keep them alive) and accents of blush pink or fern green. The windows open and the sun pouring in. But, you don’t have to completely overhaul a bedroom to get a new perspective, by simply changing the bedding, adding a new print to your collection or a cushion or two, you can create an easy-to-attain, affordable update for Spring. Or simply, by rearranging the room around – that used to be my absolute favourite pastime as a teenager… At the moment, I’ve just got a new rug to go by my bedside (more of that next week) and have switched up my cotton sheets and wool blanket for much lighter and …

Better Sleep with a Leesa mattress

Better Sleep with a Leesa mattress

I’ve written about my quest for a good night’s sleep before but I’ve always focused on the routine of bedtime – meditation techniques, relaxing scents and calming baths, I’ve tried it all – not the actual apparatus. With deadlines, juggling too many things at once and being constantly switched on, I’ve become used to the occasional, horrible sleepless night with a mind endlessly whirring. So, in search of the perfect night’s sleep, I’m willing to give anything a go, and where better to start than with what you sleep on. If you get the foundations right, the rest will follow right? That’s where Leesa, a US mattress brand recently expanded to the UK, steps in. On a mission to help people sleep better, Leesa creates foam mattresses that can be bought online and delivered straight to your door in one compact box, without you having to move a muscle (except maybe a few clicks of a button). Set up by David Wolfe after years of trouble sleeping and awkward experiences in mattress showrooms, Leesa offers a very different kind of …

Cosy autumn bedroom with Addition

Cosy autumn bedroom with Addition

It’s definitely that time of the year to snuggle down and prepare the home for winter – I’ve even been lighting candles during the day recently. The Danish call it Hygge, which roughly translates as cosiness but encompasses so much more – basically, creating a warm atmosphere and enjoying the good things in life with good people. Not much to complain about that. So, as the temperatures drop, I’ve taken the opportunity to add a couple of cosy additions to my bedroom to make it look and feel warmer. I’ve recently discovered beautiful new online shop Addition, which provided the perfect excuse to have a little re-style with some of their products (psst… scroll down for a little giveaway too!). London-based Riti Kallas and her business partner Sri launched Addition in August. Riti, originally from Estonia, and Sri, from Singapore, have combined their two heritages from different sides of the world to curate a lovely collection of mainly Asian and Scandinavian brands. They sell everything from mid-century style patterned mugs and bowls, to Scandi-style candle holders, monochrome throws and utilitarian trays. ‘While …

catesthill.com Five Steps to a Good Night's Sleep

Five steps to a better night’s sleep

The other week I was very kindly invited to a lovely blogger event hosted at the Artist Residence Hotel in London by Soak&Sleep, who talked us through the ultimate wind down. Soak&Sleep is a bed and bath product company, formally known as Duvet & Pillow Warehouse, based in my hometown of Guildford (yay!) in Surrey. Set up in 2006 by Charlie Hunt, they buy direct from trusted factories, cutting out the middleman and the expensive High Street shops, and instead, giving customers good quality products at affordable prices. The infectiously enthusiastic brand prides itself on its knowledge and experience of getting the best night’s sleep. Says Hunt: ‘We’re purely focus on bed and bath, we don’t want to be a home brand, and we want to introduce all the qualities of making the most of your moments of relaxation, so we really focus on having deep, deep knowledge of how you sleep, we advise our customers on the right sleeping positions, the right pillows to go with your sleeping positions, the right mattress to support you to sleep.’ …

Hotel Henriette, Paris

I fell in love with this stunning, pastel-shaded boutique hotel in Paris the moment I clapped eyes on it on Pinterest. Situated on a small, quiet street close to the Mouffetard district in the 13th arrondissement, Hotel Henriette is a new addition to the French capital with 32 individually designed bedrooms. They offer a calming balance between modern design and pretty vintage touches; I love the playful wall treatments with diagonal strips of colour and whole walls of earthy plywood, placed next to mid-century furniture and charming, faded floral cushions. Created by interior designer Vanessa Escoffir, there’s also retro Platner chairs, Arte wall coverings, hanging rope light fittings and Thomas Eyck products dotted around the rooms. And anywhere with pineapple-shaped accessories gets my vote too. The soft linen-clad beds look good enough to jump right into – I could gladly pass a weekend here and not even venture out to the beautiful city outside!        All images: Hotel Henriette, Paris Hotel Henriette, 9 Rue des Gobelins, 75013 Paris, tel: 01 47 07 26 90, www.hotelhenriette.com

Loaf - Chook shelf £115 high res1

Loaf Spring/Summer 2015 collection

Hello Monday! Let’s beat the blues and pretend we’re in the French countryside… These images from Loaf’s new Spring/Summer 2015 collection are gorgeous, I love how fresh, light and airy the styling is – they look like they were taken in a lovely French chateau that’s slightly distressed and rustic in all the right places. The collection has a fab name too – Tiddlywinks – drawing inspiration on all things playful to coincide with the launch of their first Little Loafers kids’ range. There’s over 40 new pieces, from squigdy sofas and cosy beds to tactile tables and soft accessories, all handmade in Derbyshire. My favourite is the new Homer kitchen table above (from £695), did you know it’s made from old doors? What’s yours?  Homer kitchen table from £695 Spangle lamps from £65 Chook shelf, £115 Topsy Turvy bed linen from £20 All images: Loaf

I wish I lived here: a pastel Scandinavian home

How pretty is this fresh, airy, pastel-shaded Scandinavian home in Sweden’s Gothenburg with its tall ceiling and large windows? It has just a hint of Spring –I love how there are little vases of blooms, tulips and crocuses dotted around the place. The gallery wall with that pale pink ‘un, deus, trois’ print and the cosy, inviting bed with the Alvar Aalto stool for a bedside table are perfect too. It’s styled by Emma Fisher, who has a lovely Instagram account. I would love to live here, wouldn’t you? Styling: Emma Fisher, Images: Stadshem
