Soft blush pink bedroom reveal BEFORE + AFTER

It’s finally time to reveal the results of our bedroom makeover. Neglected and in need of a little love, for a while it was a dumping ground while we did up downstairs. We got the things we really needed in – new windows and clean, new carpet – but came to a pause after the builders had left and the chaos of renovating had settled. Before long we were fed up with the luminous, bright blue ‘feature wall’ and the curtains temporarily tacked up with nails. With a fresh lick of paint and new furniture from West Elm, our blush pink, mid-century inspired bedroom has taken shape, transforming what was a cold, bare space into a welcoming, relaxing room. Now, the bedroom is a calm sanctuary to escape to and unwind, its soft textures appealing to the senses and its feminine hues bringing about an element of serenity. Soft blush pink bedroom makeover – BEFORE

Barely an inch of the floor could be seen and you had to climb over a sea of stuff to get to the bed. We tacked curtains to the window with nails and cooked meals from a small microwave in a strew of clutter for six weeks. It was horrible, but sometimes things have to get worse before …

Summer style wishlist

Summer is well upon us, and with a heatwave last week in the UK, I’m hoping the good weather is here to stay. You never can tell with this country, but whether it’s sweltering hot or pissing down with rain, you can bring the sunshine indoors and out with a few stylish choices. Just like the new summer dress you might have bought for your wardrobe, the home deserves the same care and attention. I’ve been buying a few new plants for the house (an Oxalis, which has wonderful purple leaves), for example, and am going crazy for baskets at the moment (this one from Ikea, just £9, is ticking all the boxes). I’ve also been adding lots of new items from all my favourites independent retailers to my shop to help freshen up the home – I’m thinking lots of planters to bring a bit of greenery, soft pastel shades, natural textures and beautiful handcrafted pieces. What do you think? The good news? You can shop most of these lovely items right here without having to move …
