about

Cate St Hill

Hi, I’m Cate St Hill, a design and interiors writer, blogger, stylist and consultant based in south London, UK. You’ll mainly find me wearing stripes, sharing snaps of my sausage dog Francis and enthusing about anything that’s neutral or green…

My blog is your interiors resource for simple, stylish living that’s curated with meaning, honesty and intention

With a strong belief that good design should be accessible to all, I set up my blog in 2011, sharing simple interior design for everyday living. I’m drawn to Scandinavian-inspired spaces and pared-back interiors, where the neutral, understated decor becomes a backdrop for everyday life. On the blog, I aim to show stylish spaces that are minimal yet feel authentic, honest, warm and inviting. It’s all about curating a home with less but better – prioritising simplicity, sustainability and design built to last.

Instead of constantly buying into new trends, I believe we should invest in how a space feels to be in. Because for me, an interior is more than just a statement or display, they’re places that should be designed around how we live every day not just how we want it to look – spaces that evolve with us, connect to our senses and give us a little joy each day.

My design ethos – sharing simple design that uplifts the everyday – is grounded in #thesimpleeveryday, a hashtag that I started on Instagram to simply celebrate the everyday but also to find simplicity every day. Living simply is about being mindful of the things we put in our home, where they come from, how they’re made and how they make us feel.

I’m interested in the relationship between wellness and interiors, and how our homes can make us feel better. When I went through a period of crippling anxiety, my home was my sanctuary. It was a relaxing space to retreat to – a quiet place to unplug, free from distractions and daily stresses. That’s why I like plain walls, soft textures, natural materials and neutral colours – they have an instantly calming effect on me.

We’re now spending more time indoors than ever before, so when the world around us starts to feel a little chaotic (whether it’s politics, world crises, our busy lives or the constant connection to technology and the endless barrage of information), it makes sense that we might want to seek a moment of calm away from it all. I hope my blog offers a moment of quiet inspiration and helps you to create your own version of a happy, healthy home.
