I create spaces with warmth and feeling, homes and interiors that are natural and relaxed; that are designed to be lived in and evolve with the user. Instead of looking to the latest trends and changing fads, I like to focus more on natural, honest materials and considered, well-crafted objects that will stand the test of time. For me, an interior is more than just a statement or display, they’re places that should be designed around how we live every day not just how we want it to look.
I set up my blog in 2011 to share simple interior tips for everyday living. Over the years I began sharing my own decoration projects and makeover stories – soon friends and family were asking for advice, and before long readers were requesting my help professionally too. Now, I help like-minded clients bring their ideas, hope and visions to life with simple solutions that are easy to achieve and don’t cost the earth.
I studied architecture at The Bartlett, UCL, before working in practice on residential projects for two years. Following a Masters in architectural history, also at The Bartlett, I carved out a career as a design journalist, writing about architecture projects and new buildings for Building Design and Blueprint magazine. But my passion has always been for interiors – I’m fascinated by the ways in which people make a house a home; how their possessions can tell a story and how space, light and texture can create a certain mood or feeling.
Now, I combine my spatial planning skills from working in practice, with my design knowledge gained from working as a writer for the past six years – it means I can easily visualise a scheme and know exactly where to look to find the best pieces of design for it. And from years penning simple tips and tricks for making the most of your interior space here on the blog, I know that it’s the little details that really capture the feeling of home.

‘I am so happy to have found Cate to help with a complete refurbishment of my flat. Her vision for the space has been invaluable and her style is impeccable. The mood boards Cate provided allowed us to see what’s possible for our space and to really get excited about the project. The shopping lists saved us so much time and headache, letting us make our choices and purchases with ease. Cate listened to our needs and brought her own beautiful aesthetic to the project. She gave us plenty of options, without us ever feeling overwhelmed. Cate is an absolute gem that made what could have been a stressful and daunting renovation into an exciting and pretty-much hassle-free adventure! I simply can’t recommend her highly enough,’ Debbie
