I’m sure I’m not the only one dreaming of a staycation in the UK. With travel plans limited and foreign adventures put on hold for the moment, it seems that there’s a lot to be discovered and enjoyed on these familiar shores. Not to mention the shift from long summer days to crisp autumn nights, that has me longing for cosy nights by a fire, lazy breakfasts in bed and brisk walks in the countryside.
So let me introduce you to The Curator’s Apartment in Bath, a new holiday rental that will have you packing your bags with Jane Austen classics and hunkering down within its warm beige walls.

The Curator’s Apartment is housed above a vintage clothes shop in a Grade 11-listed building in Bath’s charming Artisan Quarter. Conceived by Kinden Property, the quaint split-level space features two bedrooms, a bright, contemporary kitchen and homely living room, set across a generous 90 sq m.
Inspired by the art galleries and characterful independents in the local area, the developers imagined the space as the home of an imaginary, well-travelled curator (hence the name). The curator is someone that loves vintage furniture as much as modern design pieces, they say.
‘We commissioned bespoke art pieces that would complement the interiors of the apartment, aiming to achieve an authentic aesthetic that is cosy and personal, more “home” than “hotel”.’
The result is warm and inviting, with soothing neutral walls, painted floor boards and unique features. I love how the spaces perfectly balance old and new – you get a sense of where you are in the country, with all of Bath’s rich architectural heritage around you, but there’s contemporary touches to bring it bang up to date.
The beautiful bespoke artworks lift the space and provide a focal point in each room, from David Hardy’s black and white landscape above the dining table to Lawrence Calver’s smoked green abstract piece in the bedroom. In the hallway sits a commission made by floral design studio Lunaria Somerset. Made of dried flowers and sculptural branches, it’s all that’s needed to show off the simple hallway.
Can you imagine yourself curling up here and escaping the world with a staycation here in the UK?
