A good coffee table can make or break a scheme – it’s often the focal point in a space and one of the first things you see when you walk into a room. It can help ground a living room and create somewhere for people to gather and connect together.

I’ve already done a round-up of minimalist coffee tables back in 2018, but thought it was time for an update and overhaul. I wanted to focus solely on minimalist wooden coffee tables, because for me, they bring the warmth and character that is needed to lift a simple, pared-back scheme. A neutral living room needs lots of texture to bring it to life and warm, natural materials are a great way to add that soft, tactile touch.

I don’t think it’s a surprise that we might be more drawn to wood, rattan and cane at the moment than, say, smooth metals and sleek, shiny finishes. Bringing natural materials into the home helps us reconnect with nature and create a sense of calm in the home. Fluid forms, curved shapes and natural materials are all hot right now because they help create a welcoming, homely atmosphere. We don’t feel like we might bump into sharp corners or have to spend time buffing perfect, shiny surfaces. We need a bit of softness and imperfection in our spaces for them to feel like home.

Here I’ve rounded up 15 of the best minimalist wooden coffee tables, ranging in price from £250 to just over £1,000. You’ll notice they’re nearly all round or curved in some shape or form – I think that’s reflective of the trends at the moment, as well as wood simply suiting a more natural, organic form. They all have minimalist, streamlined legs, giving them a lightweight appearance, and two have handy storage solutions for hiding away clutter.
