It can be hard to find beautiful minimalist photo books that look stylish and don’t feel out of place on your coffee table. I discovered Atelier Rosemood – a young French company specialising in the creation and production of personalised stationery and elegant photo books – when I was looking for a wedding album that matched the look and feel of our simple (and very special) day.
I didn’t want the faff of sticking and pasting hundreds of photos onto endless pages. I was looking for something that was timeless and good quality, that I wouldn’t mind having out on display everyday. Then I discovered Atelier Rosemood’s fabric hard cover photo books and fell instantly in love. Bound in fine Italian fabric with delicate hot foil stamping, they’re a thing of simple beauty, oozing understated luxury. It was such a lovely, tactile experience, opening our wedding album for the first time and reliving all the wonderful memories. In fact, we loved them so much everyone got one at Christmas!
I was so impressed with the quality that I later got in touch with the team at Atelier Rosemood to see if they would be open for a collaboration, so I could share my new favourite discovery with you! In this blog post, I’m sharing a closer look at their minimalist photo books and stationery, with the focus being on the next stage of our life – a new baby. As you might already know, we welcomed a little girl Ophelia into our lives in March. It’s taken me a fair few months to finally get round to sending out baby thank you cards (seriously, where does the time go?) but with hundreds and hundreds of photos piling up in my phone, it was as good a time as any to sort through them and create something more physical to capture those magical first few months.
Minimalist baby photo albums
We’re lucky we can now capture any moment at the click of a button. I take dozens of photos each day and I’m always scrolling back to gaze lovingly at my favourite snaps of her. But with so many photos, it’s easy for the good ones to get lost amongst it all. There’s something nice about a physical photo album; a beautiful object that’s solid and well curated, that you can get out at any time and flick through. Especially for those big, special occasions, you want something that you can pass down and show the grand kids.
I usually create a photo album each year at Christmas, but this time I wanted to remember Ophelia’s first six months in her first album. Atelier Rosemood’s has a range of minimalist photo books with modern and elegant cover designs, from just £18. There’s everything from hardcover photo books to magazine-style designs that will look right at home next to your Kinfolks and Cereals.
I chose a luxury hardcover photo book to match our wedding album. Available in six delicious colours, the linen-style fabric cover makes it look just like a stylish coffee table book. The quality is undeniable – from the sewn binding and matching headband, to the hot foil stamp that completes the album with a simple personalised title. You can choose from smooth matte paper and textured ivory paper. They even do a luxury gift box to store it in – ideal for gifts.
With up to 122 pages available, you can curate each page of your photo book to suit your style and selection of photos. Atelier Rosemood have a great planner and album builder on their website, or you can also build your photo book on the go using their mobile app. They have different layout options, which allow you to add up to nine images per page. The app can auto fill the pages for you, but I enjoyed spending hours perfecting my layout and reliving the memories. There were a few happy tears shed in the process!
Atelier Rosemood also offer a complimentary proofreading and photo retouching service so you can be sure your photo book will come out perfect.
Baby thank you cards
As well as a photo book for ourselves, we wanted to show our loved ones how grateful we were for all their thoughtful gifts and love. Atelier Rosemood’s baby thank you cards are designed exclusively by their talented team of graphic designers and printed on high quality paper. We chose one of their bookmark designs, which come with a detachable bookmark that reveals a hidden thank you message behind it. They reminded me of old photo booth prints and I imagined people pinning it on their fridge or popping it in their favourite book.
I love the simplicity of the gender neutral Lovely Heart design. It comes in four colours – we chose the green, which incidentally matches her nursery. I added three of my favourite photos and personalised the text to suit us. There’s also space on the back of the card to add a hand written note should you want to. As well as smooth matte paper and iridescent paper, Atelier Rosemood’s thank you cards also come in recycled paper, made of 80% FSC certified recycled fibres. Often professional stationery can have a slightly shiny appearance, but these designs and matching envelope have a lovely natural finish that’s wonderfully tactile.
Photo prints
I don’t have many photos of us up in the house – I suppose I just haven’t found a stylish, simple way to display them without it looking tacky. But Atelier Rosemood has a selection of modern and elegant photo prints available in a wide variety of formats and templates so there’s something for everybody. Their premium photo prints, available on satin or matte paper, are high quality enough to be displayed on their own or framed.
Here I’ve displayed some on the picture ledges in Ophelia’s nursery. I love using these shelves to display much loved books and memories. The floating Moebe frame, which I had already, is perfect for highlighting one of the prints from the first few days with Ophelia. She looks so tiny and it’s so nice to have that special moment captured forever in our home. I think the minimalist wooden frame and clear glass border helps the photo print look contemporary, which fits perfectly with my style.
The days and weeks pass so quickly with a new baby – it all feels like a blur – but now we have something so special to look back on. I hope I can make matching minimalist photo books for each of her years; it’s such a lovely habit to keep up. Atelier Rosemood make it easy and I’ll be going back to them time and time again.
