In my latest ‘On My Radar’ post (and my first such post for the year!), I’ve rounded up a selection of new product launches and simple furniture finds that have caught my eye in the last month or so. There’s everything from everyday tableware and elegant glassware to multipurpose tray tables and sculptural shelving.
New accessories from &tradition
This season, Danish design brand &tradition is focusing on interior objects that foster quiet moments of contemplation, ‘transforming mundane daily tasks into purposeful rituals’. Whether it’s setting the mood with the soft glow of candlelight or finding the time to properly lay the dinner table with everyday tableware, they believe these little meaningful routines can help recharge the home and bring a fresh feel. In particular, I’ve got my eye on &tradition’s new set of carafes and glasses, which is part of the Collect range of home accessories designed by Space Copenhagen. Available in moss or amber, the glassware features a subtle whirlpool motif inspired by swirling waters. Also on my radar is a new brushed brass mounted candleholder by Anderssen and Voll, and the portable Caret light from Matteo Fogale inspired by traditional library lamps. All thoughtful additions to the simple home.
Available from the end of February (or the end of March for the Anderssen & Voll votive) from &tradition.com
New Desert outdoor sofa collection by Ferm Living
Get a head start and make sure your ready for Spring with Ferm Living’s new Desert outdoor sofa collection. You might have already seen their Desert chair before – possibly the most stylish deckchair ever, featuring a powder coated steel frame and an interchangeable woven textile seat made entirely from recycled post-consumer plastic. Well now they’ve launched a generous sofa version, with the same modernist form and slim, elegant profile. The laid-back style comes with plump, comfy cushions that are happily both water- and UV resistant. So your garden can look the part whatever the weather.
Available in three sizes: 1 seater, 2 seater and 3 seater, from £939. Pre-order from Ferm Living or if you’re in the UK, from Someday Designs
New CMA Clay Collection by Cecilie Manz for 1616/arita japan
I’m a great believer that things shouldn’t just be left for ‘best’. Rather I prefer to elevate the everyday with simple, well-designed objects that can stand the test of time. Cecilie Manz’s new collection of everyday tableware for 1616/arita japan really appeals. The result of a three year exploration into porcelain, it comprises an impressive array of 46 dinnerware pieces. I love the humble, everyday shapes and the simplicity of the two finishes: choose from classic chalk-white porcelain or a raw, natural grey.
The CMA Clay Collection will be available online at skagerak.dk and at Skagerak’s showroom in Copenhagen from spring 2022
New Poeme shelf from Finnish brand Poiat
Taking its name from the French word for poem, the new freestanding Poeme shelf is a graceful new addition to Finnish brand Poiat’s collection. Available in four different sizes and three wooden finishes, the design was inspired by Japanese architecture and the rounded, wooden forms of old Finnish tools. With smooth curved edges and a lightweight appearance, the Poeme shelves can be used as a shelving unit, room divider or TV unit.

Japanese-inspired tray tables by Kristina Dam
Japanese design always has such a simple elegance to it, marrying function and form in the most considered way. I love these versatile wooden tray tables from Danish design brand Kristina Dam Studio, recently launched as part of their Spring/Summer 2022 collection. Available in three sizes and finished in a beautiful dark, oiled oak, the new Japanese collection can be used as a coffee table, side table or functional storage unit. It can even double up as a hallway bench with the addition of a cognac coloured leather seat cushion. Take the lid off the top of the frame and you also have a tray for displaying objects or for simply having a cosy supper on the sofa (in the most stylish way of course).
From £590 for the tray table, and from £120 for just the tray. Available from Kristina Dam Studio
