It’s that time of the month – time for my latest ‘On My Radar’ post. Here I’ve rounded up a selection of new furniture launches and simple homeware finds that have caught my eye in the last month or so. There’s everything from Danish chairs and pre-loved accessories to affordable lighting and reeded glass film.
Ghia tables by Altherr Désile Park for Arper
Italian design brand Arper is well known for contract furniture, but recently it’s been making a push towards the home environment. The Ghia collection, designed by Altherr Désile Park, has been conceived for both private and public spaces. The soft, sculptural shapes and tactile materials are designed to bring a harmonious, relaxed feel to a space, whether that’s for an office or a lounge.
Available in a warm, neutral palette of earthy terracottas and moss greens, the low, curved tables come in FSC-certified oak, VOC-free MDF and terrazzo. There’s three different heights and two shapes in the collection: choose from a sculptural central base or three legs with an asymmetrical profile. Cluster tables together or use one standalone table to bring an organic focal point to a space. And can we talk about how dreamy these images are!

Skagerak launches pre-loved accessories and gifts on its Reclassic platform
It’s so good to see a brand actively promoting sustainability and launching a second hand initiative. Skagerak already sells a small selection of pre-loved indoor and outdoor furniture on its Reclassic platform, which you can find on its website. And now the Danish brand is adding smaller accessories and gifts to the mix. From November, there will be a range of stools, tray and kitchen accessories available on the Reclassic platform.
Most of the pieces have been used in private homes or for photoshoots, events or exhibitions. Everything is carefully restored by the Skagerak team before being listed for sale. Skagerak hopes that each piece can be passed on through the generations and enjoyed year after year.

An affordable way to get the look of reeded glass for less – Purlfrost’s new reeded glass film
We all know that reeded glass is having a bit of a renaissance at the moment. It’s a great way to add character and texture to a window and door, but it can often come with a price tag.
Purlfrost has launched a new reeded glass film to help get the designer look for less. It can be easily applied to everything from windows and room partitions to kitchen cabinets and shower screens. The film arrives made-to-measure and is quick to fit – simply spray the window and fit with water and apply, while making sure to smooth out any air bubbles. It’s ideal for adding privacy to a space or a moment of visual interest.
‘Recently we’ve seen a demand for reeded glass as homeowners look for easy ways to spruce up their homes without breaking the bank. Perfect for renters too, window films are great at covering up unsightly views or adding an luxury touch to an existing space,’ says Purlfrost co-founder Joanna Baumard.

Camp armchair by Philippe Malouin for SCP
Launched during Milan Design Week 2022, Philippe Malouin’s new Camp armchair for SCP takes inspiration from 1940s and 50s military camp beds. The design combines a simple, solid wood frame with hard-wearing cotton upholstery and leather details. The result looks wonderfully comfortable and inviting, the perfect place for an afternoon snooze perhaps!
For over a decade, SCP has been developing ways to manufacture sustainable upholstery without the need for petrochemical-based foams from its factory in Norfolk, England. It’s still an ongoing journey for the brand, but since 2020, all of SCP’s new upholstery designs are audited for sustainability and presented with a percentage of natural materials. The Camp armchair, for example, is upholstered in 68% natural materials, with a FSC-certified ash frame and a 100% cotton jacket.

HAY
Danish brand HAY celebrated its 20th birthday during 3 Days of Design in Copenhagen. At HAY House, the brand showed upcoming Autumn 2022 launches with a host of new accessories, furniture designs and lighting. To look forward to we have a timeless collection of tables and chairs with a French twist by designer Julien Renault. Available in a range of lacquered woods and colours, the Pastis chair in particular is sturdy, durable and wonderfully versatile.
My personal new launch is Colour Cabinet by Belgian design duo Muller van Severen. I’m usually not one for colour, but there’s something about the mix of clean, minimalist lines, bright tones and fluted glass (again!) that appeals. Inspired by the work of Donald Judd and the Bauhaus, the design is made of organically dyed Valchromate and comes in a variety of configurations that can be wall mounted or stood on the floor.
The products are available online and in shops from mid-August 2022.

Lights & Lamps x Livingetc collaboration
I recently featured British brand Lights & Lamps in my post on ‘Where to shop for affordable lighting’. They’ve just launched a new collection of rustic, organic-shaped lighting designs with magazine Livingetc.
The range includes rattan and marble table lamps, scalloped pendants and swing arm wall lights. My favourite is the Coto charcoal concrete pendant – it’s a great price point at £99 and I love the combination of the fluted form and opal glass bulb.

Fredericia launches anniversary edition of J39 chair by Børge Mogensen
Børge Mogensen’s J39 chair is a true design classic, popular for its versatility and simple, honest expression. It is said to be one of the best selling wooden chairs in Danish history. We have one in our kitchen and it is one of the comfiest dining chairs I’ve sat on.
To celebrate the 75th anniversary of the ‘People’s Chair’, Danish brand Fredericia has released the design in a sustainable, hand-woven sedge grass. It’s the same material as the original J39 chair that Mogensen had in his own living room. Normally the J39 chair is made of walnut or FSC mixed oak and beech with a natural hand-woven paper cord seat (the version we have in our kitchen). Sedge grass is quick and easy to grow, not requiring the same processing as paper, making it a more eco-friendly choice.
The J39 anniversary edition is available from 1st September

Grade collection by Jonas Wagell for L.Ercolani
Japanese-inspired design has become a big trend in interiors and I’m seeing plenty more sofas with wooden platforms and bases rather than the slender metal legs that have been popular.
One example is the new Grade collection from L.Ercolani, designed by Stockholm-based architect and designer Jonas Wagell. Guided by a minimalist aesthetic, the collection features an elegant, curved body paired with a solid ash underframe available in eight finishes. It comes as a three seater, two seater and armchair.
