Not quite a Red Thread, but a Green Thread - a cle Not quite a Red Thread, but a Green Thread - a clever interiors trick where you repeat a certain colour, element, pattern or shape from room to room to create an overall feeling of calm and cohesion. When people say, ‘your home always looks so tranquil’ I can tell you it’s because I’ve used this one element (green) to tie everything together, so my home as a whole feels grounded and of the same design language. Almost like rooms ‘speak’ to one another, sharing a commonality that feels soothing and familiar. Read more on today’s substack! 💌
[press stay] Forest bathing - or shinrin yoku in J [press stay] Forest bathing - or shinrin yoku in Japanese - is the mindful act of slowing down and immersing yourself in nature 🌿 it’s about really being in the moment and appreciating everything around you, from the sights to the scents, using all the senses. Spending time @lookingglasslodge - a luxurious eco lodge hidden away in East Sussex woodland - allows just that, encouraging any stress to wash away with each green view or deep breath. Owners Rik and Lindsey have created a restorative retreat designed around biophilic principles, with a grounding wooden interior, considered design details and a show stopping fire. I loved how inside and out merged into a tranquil whole, but most of all I loved the soft linen bedding, the record player, the handmade mugs and the pure peace and quiet ✨
Sometimes I feel like I’m juggling three full time Sometimes I feel like I’m juggling three full time jobs - interior design, content creation and writing - which means I rarely share interior projects on here. Sometimes that’s because of a client’s privacy, sometimes it’s just finding the time, sometimes it’s a long old process. For the past 6 months or so I’ve been working on an exciting project - the retrofit and renovation of a Victorian terraced house in Walthamstow for a sustainable developer, and here’s a few sneak peeks. Working closely together with the client and Studio Partington Architects, I’ve specified all interior fixtures, finishes and furnishings, right down to the little details, laid out furniture plans and designed the kitchen, the bathroom and bespoke joinery. It’s been a satisfying challenge to make sure everything was as eco friendly as possible - from cork flooring and recycled bamboo worktops to secondhand furniture and almost zero VOC breathable paint ♻️ All going well we’ll hopefully be starting on site in the summer, so watch this space! 💚

The little and big things I do to keep this anxiou The little and big things I do to keep this anxious girlie sane, from meditation and sound baths to therapy and tidying my home 💆🏼‍♀️ I find looking after my mental health is a bit like going to the gym. It’s like exercise for the mind. The more you do the little habits that make you feel good, the better you feel and the more resilient you are to the peaks and troughs of an anxious mind. What do you do to stay sane in a mad world? 💚
