An interior lovers guide to MANCHESTER 📍bookmark a An interior lovers guide to MANCHESTER 📍bookmark and save 🤍 I enjoyed a foodie 36 hours in the capital of the north, if you’ve never been I’d describe the city as effortlessly cool and unpretentious, it’s not trying to be anything it’s not, with unassuming restaurants and bars, and little independent shops that you wouldn’t know about unless you know about them, here’s my highlights. I’ll share a full guide on Substack too!

WHERE TO EAT
- @skof_manchester - unpretentious 1 Michelin starred restaurant by @cheftombarnes - perhaps the best meal of my life! 🍽️
- @stray.bar - excellent cocktail bar in the Northern Quarter - try the vine tomato margarita 🍸
- @portfolio.mcr - elegant champagne and wine bar 🥂
- @allpressespresso - for your caffeine fix; Japandi interiors and green cups get a plus point from me ☕️
- also bookmark @barshrimpmcr @flawdwine @stowmcr

WHERE TO SHOP
- @formlifestylestore - I could have spent hours in this interior shop, it’s down a little alleyway so you could easily miss it but it’s beautifully curated and I came home with some wine glasses and candles 🕯️
- also bookmark @deadstockgeneralstore

WHERE TO GO
- @whitworthart - A gallery with a cantilevered extension by architects MUMA. As a fan of all things Japanese, I really enjoyed their current exhibition Beneath The Great Wave: Hokusai and Hiroshige, which is free and on until 15th November - go if you get a chance! 🌊

STAY
- @dakotahotelsuk - if you’re feeling fancy 🛌
- I’ve also heard good things about the new @mollies_manchester and @lockehotels

[disclosure - AD - press stay - I was hosted at Dakota, Skof and Stray, I paid for my travel to Manchester and everything else on the trip]
Little things 💫 my home has never been tidier when Little things 💫 my home has never been tidier when there isn’t a little one at home 😂 enjoying the peace and quiet, a new butter knife, the sunny weather, breakfast in the garden and finishing a book I really enjoyed. Simple pleasures 💚 working today but then those words (35k of them!) won’t write themselves…
I read this quote this week and it really resonate I read this quote this week and it really resonated: think not have I don’t enough work to rest, but have I done enough rest to do my best work 💡 like wow! I’m allowed to rest, I’m allowed to do nothing. A yappy slow Sunday at my house, with dippy eggs and marmite toast in the garden, a book I can’t put down and sunshine on my face, happy days! Wishing you all a lovely Sunday 💫
Interrupting your doom scroll with some Japandi in Interrupting your doom scroll with some Japandi interior inspiration - I was impressed with London giving 3 Days of Design a run for its money with Clerkenwell Design Week - give me all the Scandi furniture, pops of green and sculptural lighting 💫 so much to love in these squares, from inviting curves and wooden display cases to Japanese pottery and hand crocheted lighting. All the brands are tagged - I won’t deflect from their work by writing all over the images! Enjoy 💚
Apparently you need a good ‘hook’ on Instagram now Apparently you need a good ‘hook’ on Instagram now, so I thought I would show you my favourites… 🪝

What do ya think?
Just shared a round-up of my favourite Japandi-sty Just shared a round-up of my favourite Japandi-style pendant lighting on Substack and thought I’d highlight some of the best here for ya 💡 everyone’s always saying ‘aaaah no not the big light!’ but with the warm, soft glow of these you won’t mind turning it on at night. My four tips for cosy lighting:

- install your lighting on dimmer switches so you can adjust according to your mood and time of day
- choose warm white bulbs with a Kelvin rating of around 3,000 rather than cold white - warmer yellow-toned light feels much cosier than brighter blue-toned light that can feel overly stimulating and chilly (no one wants to feel like they’re in a hospital waiting room)
- avoid the glare of an exposed bulbs and keep them for task areas where you need bright illumination like kitchen islands and dining tables, instead for living areas and bedrooms choose pendant shades that will offer glow instead of glare
- finally don’t just stick to one main light, have 4-5 sources of light in a room so you can create what interior designers term ‘layered’ lighting with table lamps, floor lamps, wall lights, creating cosy pockets of light ✨
