Just shared a round-up of my favourite Japandi-sty Just shared a round-up of my favourite Japandi-style pendant lighting on Substack and thought I’d highlight some of the best here for ya 💡 everyone’s always saying ‘aaaah no not the big light!’ but with the warm, soft glow of these you won’t mind turning it on at night. My four tips for cosy lighting:

- install your lighting on dimmer switches so you can adjust according to your mood and time of day
- choose warm white bulbs with a Kelvin rating of around 3,000 rather than cold white - warmer yellow-toned light feels much cosier than brighter blue-toned light that can feel overly stimulating and chilly (no one wants to feel like they’re in a hospital waiting room)
- avoid the glare of an exposed bulbs and keep them for task areas where you need bright illumination like kitchen islands and dining tables, instead for living areas and bedrooms choose pendant shades that will offer glow instead of glare
- finally don’t just stick to one main light, have 4-5 sources of light in a room so you can create what interior designers term ‘layered’ lighting with table lamps, floor lamps, wall lights, creating cosy pockets of light ✨
Can we normalise posting just one photo? I don’t w Can we normalise posting just one photo? I don’t want to wait until I have 20 and I don’t want to write text all over them 🤪 I have a theory about why we’re all feeling a little social media fatigued - consuming (and creating!) content is demanding more of us as viewers, instead of coming on and seeing a few pretty photos, we have long carousels with lots of information and reels that are a whole production in themselves, which is great and really useful and lovely most of the time but we’re also lazy scrollers overwhelmed with life and sometimes that’s a lot to take in at once - sometimes I think we just want to see something beautiful which doesn’t require anything except appreciating it for what it is?? So let’s bring back one photo at a time?! 🤔

It feels like a constant battle against a tide of stuff, mess and daily dirt doesn’t it?! And after the weekend I always feel the need to refresh and reset. Now I can relax and get on with my week! 💪🏼 Happy new week, we got this 💚

When I saw that it was Mental Health Awareness wee When I saw that it was Mental Health Awareness week and the theme was wear something green I thought I can totally get on board with that! 💚 Not only for my love of all things green, but I really believe that a problem shared is a problem halved. And if I can use this platform for good, even better. I know I need some more positivity in my feed, and we can all end up comparing ourselves. It’s so important to talk about our worries and anxieties, and I mean really talk. I’ve had the courage to share and be more vulnerable over the past few years and the one thing that has helped is talking and finding solidarity. We all have our hidden struggles and I think you’ll find that when you open up, you find there’s something almost universal about the way we all think and it helps you feel less like a stranger in your own head, worrying what’s wrong with me or why am I like this?! Because you find underneath it all we’re probably all worrying about the same things just never saying anything. Sending lots of love to anyone out there going through something 💚

It’s all about the simple everyday moments ✨ home It’s all about the simple everyday moments ✨ home to me isn’t the big makeover projects or grand gestures, it’s not perfect and it’s not a performance, it’s the simple little moments you elevate, with a favourite ceramic cup, home cooking, gathering round the table and an artfully undone table 💚
