A little trip to Paris to bring in the New Year…
Out and about the Pompidou Centre
Ma Salle a Manger, Place Dauphine- great confit leg of duck.
A great little find- Musee Jacquemart-Andre on Boulevard Haussmann- a small museum, which was once the grand, private home of art collectors Édouard André (1833–1894) and Nélie Jacquemart. When we went there was an exhibition, titled Desirs et Volupte, with work by Frederic Leighton and the pre-raphaelite brotherhood, John Everett Millais and Dante Gabriel Rosetti. There is also a lovely cafe with delicious patisseries.
A brilliant exhibition on the fashion designer Azzedine Alaïa at the Palais Galliera, which is well worth seeing. It is the Tunisian-born designer’s first Paris retrospective and is presented in both the Palais’s newly renovated galleries and alongside large, colourful murals by Henri Matisse at the Musée d’Art moderne de la Ville de Paris across the road.
à bientôt Paris!
