Cosy autumn bedroom with Addition

It’s definitely that time of the year to snuggle down and prepare the home for winter – I’ve even been lighting candles during the day recently. The Danish call it Hygge, which roughly translates as cosiness but encompasses so much more – basically, creating a warm atmosphere and enjoying the good things in life with good people. Not much to complain about that. So, as the temperatures drop, I’ve taken the opportunity to add a couple of cosy additions to my bedroom to make it look and feel warmer. I’ve recently discovered beautiful new online shop Addition, which provided the perfect excuse to have a little re-style with some of their products (psst… scroll down for a little giveaway too!).

London-based Riti Kallas and her business partner Sri launched Addition in August. Riti, originally from Estonia, and Sri, from Singapore, have combined their two heritages from different sides of the world to curate a lovely collection of mainly Asian and Scandinavian brands. They sell everything from mid-century style patterned mugs and bowls, to Scandi-style candle holders, monochrome throws and utilitarian trays.

‘While it started out as a highly personal brand and product selection we soon understood that these brands, whilst being from different regions, all have something in common – they carry with them the knowledge and craftsmanship of the past with modern contemporary design. We saw that there were no other online stores on the market that offered this kind of mix,’ Riti adds.

This cushion is entirely handmade – from weaving and dyeing to the last trims and finishes – using organic kala cotton that is grown and mill-spun in Gujarat, India. The fabrics are woven using a special weaving technique that is traditional to the Gujarati village of Bhujodi in Kachchh. I love the little pom-poms on each corner and the soft texture of the cotton that is perfect against a backdrop of naturally scrunched up, lazy French linen sheets. Of course I’m a sucker for stripes of any kind too…

The little pink Nur tray is a handy little addition (get it?) to any bedroom. I love having small trays and bowls dotted around the house, for dropping keys when you come through the door, popping loose change in or the clutter that can sometimes take over bedside tables. I’m often doing a balancing act when reading, drinking coffee and trying to Instagram in bed, so this the perfect surface to keep my coffee cup level and avoid any spillages!

And good news, Addition have just signed up to Showroom who help power my online shop, so you can even buy some of their lovely things right here and get the same look…
