H&M HOME is every interior enthusiast’s secret resource for affordable linen, cushions, patterned rugs, baskets, candles and much more. It’s great for those simple basics every stylish home needs. Often I might post something on Instagram and someone will ask where it’s from, and they can’t believe it is H&M HOME – their pieces look much more expensive than they actually are. A speckled plate looks like a handcrafted, artisan-made ceramic, while soft, grey, linen bedding can be easily mistaken for a more luxurious version.
I was recently introduced to the Autumn 2017 collection at a supper club with H&M HOME and let me tell you, there are so many covetable products for the home this season. From stoneware jugs and washed linen aprons, to black-stained wooden chopping boards and fringed cotton tea towels, there’s a focus on rustic, tactile materials and textures to create a warm, inviting atmosphere. Come on in…
I’m not one for following trends, so I’m really happy to see H&M HOME create elegant, timeless pieces that can transcend fashions. Think: linen napkins that get softer with age and stoneware bowls that go with everything. Just my kind of thing.
‘Colour shades are more important than trends this season. As we set out to create this year’s autumn collection, we also wanted to put focus on textures and think about how different materials feel to touch. We looked to nature for inspiration and the result is two major styles: one is rural with earthy tones and natural materials while the other is dark and dramatic with deep, sophisticated colours,’ says Evelina Kravaev Söderberg, head of design at H&M HOME.
For Autumn, H&M HOME has expanded its kitchen collection with a new dinnerware series, adding to its already popular range of textile basics. Introduced early this month, new products include rustic chopping boards, carafes, kitchen utensils and glasses.
Here I’ve picked my favourites 10 pieces from H&M HOME’s Autumn 2017 collection:
‘We constantly develop our product range and now we are putting extra focus on the kitchen. The kitchen is many times the heart of the home, a space filled with character, creativity and energy, an ever-evolving room where you prepare and enjoy good food and this is something we truly want to translate into our collections,’ says Söderberg.
H&M HOME’s collections often sell out quickly, I regret not buying more of the speckled plates I now use everyday, so I’d say stock up while you can. I can certainly see those stoneware jugs and bowls being popular. In fact, I’m going to add some to my basket now… race you there!
