A project to rehabilitate an old carpenter’s workshop into a live/work space by architect Jack Woolley has been announced as the first prize winner of the Architects’ Journal Small Projects Award. The almost invisible office and home, with a ‘hidden’ brick wall, conceals behind it the converted original workshop with an added basement level. Materials have been salvaged including sodden timbers from the roof that were dried out and cleaned to form the kitchen.
