J W Anderson has unveiled pictures of his second collection for Topshop. You can see the first in a post I wrote in September here. I really coveted his debut collection for Topshop- I even dished out some cash for the blue striped dress and a box pleat denim skirt (which I wear ALL the time).
What I liked about the collection was that it was wearable.
J.W. Anderson, or 27-year-old Jonathan (William) Anderson launched his first collection just four years ago and is now sponsored by Newgen. His collections are a homage to classic design and he’s an ambassador for well-made, British fabrics and knits- he single handedly brought paisley and tartan kilts back to the catwalk. His clothes are also decidedly androgynous, as he says: “It’s always been about men borrowing women’s clothing, women borrowing men’s clothing. It’s this idea of a homogenous wardrobe. I think that’s modern, that is modernity now.”
The latest collection for Topshop features patent trench coats, jumpers with animal motifs, classic blue shirts and denim culottes. And again that wearability steps in- “It’s about carrying over the idea of iconic pieces that can be worn over and over and re-working staple looks from the JW Anderson wardrobe,” he says.
I can’t wait to see it in the shops. The collection hits stores on February 15.
