What: Serpentine Pavilion

Sou Fujimoto’s much-anticipated cloud-like pavilion has taken shape on the Serpentine lawn in Hyde Park. At 41, Fujimoto is the youngest architect to be involved in the annual design of a temporary structure for the Serpentine Gallery, following Peter Zumthor, Jean Nouvel, Herzog & de Meuron and Toyo Ito to name a few.

What: Summer Exhibition 2013
Where: Royal Academy, London
When: Until August 10
The annual Royal Academy summer exhibition is a must-see event in any art-lover’s calendar. It is the world’s largest open submission contemporary art show, showcasing work in all media including painting, sculpture, photography, printmaking and of course there’s the usual architecture room crammed with sketches, models and drawings.

During the final weekend of the exhibition, The Independent Group: Parellel of Art & Life, Victoria Walsh will lead a conversation looking at the relevance of architecture to the Independent Group, focusing in particular on JG Ballard.
