Brooklyn-based home accessory company Light + Ladder has created a beautiful lookbook for Spring 2014. Light + Ladder, founded by designer Farrah Sit, produces locally-sourced, functional and well-designed objects such as indoor planters, wall hooks and desk accessories.
After attending Rhode Island School of Design and working for Calvin Klein, Sit returned to handmade crafts and began working with friends and neighbours on projects. She noticed her design potential multiplying with each connection. The company now focuses on home accessories that are designed to bring greenery indoors and promote urban gardening in small spaces. One of my favourites is Spora, a line of wall planters in varying sizes and shapes. Inspired by spores, small reproductive bodies that are both protective and capable of growing into a new organism, the porcelain vessels offer an elegant home for plants on the wall. They say:
Our company hopes to represent a return to meaningful consumption by providing artistic, one-of-a-kind, American-made accessories for the home. Each product is inspired by the vivid simplicity of the natural world. We think the home should be like a garden, and we bring Nature inside with a sleek yet practical approach to luxury.
