More and more people are foregoing digital cameras and SLR’s in favour of the camera on their phone, while there are now so many new apps (my favourites being VSCO and Afterlight) that offer endless filters and effects much like Photoshop. Instagram is no longer a place for shaky, blurry photos of meals, but professional-style compositions and shoots, similar to those seen on my other favourite, Pinterest. Here is a selection of my top four favourite Instagrammers, you can follow me here.
cannellevanille a.k.a Aran Goyoaga is a Basque ex-pat living in the US since 1998. She is a freelance food writer, stylist and photographer and creates stunning, simple compositions of delicious food and her travels, which make me endlessly envious of her eye for design. She’s also got a lovely, bright studio, where she sets shoots up and hosts workshops. See her website here.
2. Alice Gao
Alice Gao is a New York-based photographer (she’s shot for my favourites Cereal magazine and Kinfolk) who has one of the best instagram accounts around. She posts clean, almost monochromatic photos of her beautiful home, new things to wear and the food she eats out and about. Check out her blog here.
Just for fun. The adventures of Harlow and Indiana, the best of friends. They have a book coming out soon too!
Olivia Rae James is a photographer based in Charleston, South Carolina, who specialises in portraits, weddings and travel photography as well as shoots of dinner parties and gatherings for Kinfolk magazine. She has a super cute puppy and recently took some brilliant photos on a trip to Peru.
