As many of you will know, Lamb’s Conduit Street in central London is one of my favourite streets in the city, with Persephone Books and The French House, among other boutiques. Just around the corner on Rugby Street is a quintessentially British shop called Thornback & Peel, which I have often walked past but never taken the time to look at. They create textiles inspired by an eclectic mixture of Victoriana, Mrs Beeton’s household management, Mr McGregor’s garden, 17th century microscope imagery of the natural world, Norfolk and Devon. It was here that I found myself a few weeks ago when frantically searching for the perfect present, I ended up buying two tea towels with a bunny rabbit and cabbages pattern, but now with this sunny weather beginning to rear its head through the clouds, these summery deckchairs soon caught my eye. They’re ideal for weekends by the seaside or for simply watching your garden grow– I think the blue tins of sardines are fun, but my favourite is probably the pink jellies and pigeons, it shouldn’t work but somehow combining two very British phenomena works.
Thornback & Peel deckchairs, £135.00 each, find them here.
There are also matching cushions priced at £60.00
