Sebastian Herkner is a furniture designer based near Frankfurt. He created these eye-catching silver and tinted glass vessels during an experimental glass-making workshop and they’ve subsequently been picked up by German homeware shop Pulpo. The workshop titled Glass is Tomorrow (launched in 2011) aims to establish a more fluid exchange of knowledge between glass and design professionals from all over Europe. Three workshops were organised this year so glass blowers and designers could meet and explore new production techniques. Their work will be shown in a travelling exhibition, including Herkner’s here. He says:
Based on the idea of using existing moulds, I wanted to concentrate on the colours, transparency and finishing of simple containers. Working together in a team of glass blowers and craftmen was an exciting adventure and a big experience.
