The Garden Issue by House of Rym

As soon as I saw a sneak peek of homeware brand House of Rym’s Spring/Summer 2015 catalogue, ‘The Garden Issue’ on Instagram – a picture of one of their pretty teacups, nesting on a spongy layer of green grass and accompanied by the cutest mound of petit fours – I couldn’t wait to see the whole shoot and share it with you as fast as my little fingers could type. Here, they have well and truly banished away the winter blues, heading to sunny Gothenburg and the west coast of Sweden for a day of creative workshops, open-air picnics, and of course, cups of tea.

House of Rym’s five designers’ meet-up takes place in Emma von Brömssen’s stunning 1930’s home, situated in an old fishing village. For this season’s collection, Emma has created the pattern ‘Lit de la fleur’ (you can see her painting it below); as the name suggests (at least if you know your French) she got her inspiration from a blossoming flower garden, which becomes a bit of a theme for the whole shoot. Next they have coffee – in Sweden they call it ‘Fika’, enjoying a cup of coffee with something sweet and preferably in great company, just what I like to do. Nature abounds, with handmade wreaths, place settings and even bracelets on the tables. Then it’s off to the meadow for a picnic with all the yumminess they have made before heading back for a warming cup of tea. I love the atmosphere with the softly glowing candles, steaming cups and cosy blankets – as they say ‘It’s mixing and matching. It’s spontaneous. It’s eclectic yet cohesive.’
