So earlier in the month I shared the first instalment on the bloggers tour I attended with Function & Form in Antwerp (you can see it here if you missed it). Masterminded by fellow bloggers – interior stylist Tiffany Grant-Riley and graphic designer Annie Kruse – we spent a lovely weekend in October exploring all things design in the Belgian city. A slightly under-the-radar European city in terms of design, Antwerp has a bounty of boutique concept stores, beautifully curated design shops and independent coffee shops waiting to be discovered.
One such gem is the concept store st. vincents, which we were all cooing over. And if it hadn’t been for the fact it was our last day and we all had trains and planes to catch I think we would have moved in. It has something for everyone, whether you’re an interior and antiques magpie, a fashion lover, or whether you simply want to while away an hour or two over a good coffee or tea in this beautiful, raw but contemporary setting. Visitors are actively encouraged to linger and enjoy the space, while a calendar of events, from talks, concerts, tastings and art openings keep people coming back for more.
st. vincents was launched in December 2015 by economist-lawyer duo Henri and Geraldine. They set about converting an old printing office on Kleine Markt 13 into an inspiring space, with concrete floors, exposed brick walls and industrial details.
A hybrid mix of shopping and art, it’s now an ever-changing space dedicated to niche and established designers, creatives and artisans. Their thoughtful collection of home, wardrobe and office wares features refined, honest and genuine items, whether it’s minimal leather brogues, a solid wood table or handcrafted ceramics. They often host exhibitions and when we were there there was a pop-up of eyewear brand ace & tate. I just loved all the natural textures, soft, muted tones and accents of greenery.
I’ll let the pictures do the talking now, and I think you’ll see why we loved the space so much…
So if you’re ever in Antwerp, make sure this is on your list! The perfect place to gather some interiors inspiration, rest your weary feet on a beautiful piece of furniture design and maybe leave with a little souvenir or two.
st.vincents, Kleine Markt 13, 2000 Antwerp, Belgium, open 10.30am – 6.30pm, closed Tuesdays.
