20 of the best minimal bar stools

It’s time for another ‘Best of’ post – this time rounding up the very best of minimal bar stools for the home. I’ve scoured the internet and all the interior brands I know and love, for not just 10 of the best stools, but 20!

Below you’ll find everything from affordable finds to Scandi design icons. They all have something in common – a slender, simple shape and pared-back profile, nothing is ever superfluous to the design. You’ll see that they’re mainly black and grey. And hopefully there’s also something for every price range, with designs ranging from 2o quid to the more luxury end in the hundreds. So pull up a pew and take your pick…

So which one catches your eye? A tough choice don’t you think? My absolute favourite is Nikari’s Perch bar stool by Studio Kaksikko, it has such a distinctive shape, with its small, cute-as-a-button seat and splayed legs. Another favourite is Muuto’s Fiber bar stool, a new addition to the brand’s Fiber chair family this year. Designed by Iskos-Berlin, the stool has an ergonomically curved seat, crafted from environmentally friendly wood finer composite, and slender powder coated metal legs. Two honest, unpretentious designs that would fit right at home in almost any interior. I don’t have any space for a bar stool or any counter to reach, but these almost make me want to make up a need for one…
