I think we’re now all spending more time outside. After nearly four months cooped up inside during lockdown, it feels so good to be out in the open, embracing those little moments spent in the sunshine. While we’re all still a bit wary of restaurants or meeting inside, picnics provide the perfect solution for gathering and enjoying the summer months safely. As soon as lockdown was eased we lingered in the park longer than our daily dog walk, basking in the simple pleasure of a drink in hand and long, lazy evenings. While holiday escapes and grand adventures are a little way off for some yet, a homemade picnic has some magic and joy to it too – you get a little slice of the holiday spirit, even if it’s only for an afternoon.

I always believe in uplifting those simple, everyday moments and making them feel a little bit special. A picnic becomes so much more of an occasion when you put a little thought into it. It doesn’t take much – lay out a beautiful rug, swap the plastic spoons for bamboo picnicware, bring out a proper glass or two, arrange your food on a nice shopping board, and voilà, you’ve created a stylish scene to be enjoyed and lingered upon.
In today’s post I’ve rounded up a selection of stylish summer picnicware, from linen bento bags and beeswax wraps to handmade picnic baskets and striped umbrellas. Functional, sustainable and pleasing to the eye too. Happy summer!
