It’s time for my (slightly irregular) feature ‘On My Radar’, where I round up a selection of new furniture launches and simple homeware finds that have caught my eye in the last month or so. In this month’s edition we have gorgeous olive green sideboards, minimalist wooden stools, foam free sofas and tactile porcelain lamps. Enjoy!
USM launches limited-edition colour Olive Green for autumn
Available in 14 signature colours, USM’s modular furniture is instantly recognisable as a design classic. The last time USM added a permanent colour to their collection was in 1995, so it’s with much anticipation that they introduce a new limited edition colour, olive green.
The rich, earthy tone – RAL 6003 to be exact – is available in four configurations, including a sideboard, high credenza, low credenza and drinks trolley. And with every purchase of USM’s new olive green shade, you receive a free set of two martini glasses made by Riedel. Cheers to that!

New Taburet stool by Cecilie Manz for Fritz Hansen
Fritz Hansen has launched a couple of new products for Autumn/Winter 2023 and this has to be one of my favourites. A versatile design that can function as both a side table or stool, Taburet is crafted in FSC-certified solid wood that has been shaped into a unique, curved U-shape.
‘I had an idea for a minimalist stool for some time and reflected on it for a while. With this kind of project, the process starts as a thought – long before pen and paper touch. But suddenly it’s in motion. Adjusting the specifications and honing the design is a bit like proofreading a text: it is slow and steady, seemingly motionless, but essential to the process,’ says Danish designer Cecilie Manz.
Taburet is available in oiled pine and oiled cherry in stores and online.

SCP launch new foam free upholstery designs
At London Design Festival this year, SCP launched a new 100% foam free upholstery collection that’s been 10 years in the making. The British brand believes that to be truly sustainable, foam needs to be removed from all modern upholstery. That’s because foam is synthetic and derived from petrochemicals, which are not only harmful for the environment, but can also give off toxic VOCs in the home.
The new collection comprises six new pieces, including two armchairs and four sofas, with designs by Matthew Hilton, Philippe Malouin, Donna Wilson, Wilkinson & Rivera and Terence Woodgate. They are all made by hand using natural materials in SCP’s upholstery factory in Norfolk. The synthetic foam has been replaced by a combination of natural latex, recycled felted wool, needled wool and coconut fibres.
My favourite of the collection is the Peonia by Wilkinson & Rivera. I love the characterful curved arms and the elegance of the sofa pelmet.

Mud Australia collaborate with Zachary Hanna on new porcelain lamp collection
Mud Australia has been creating handmade porcelain homewares in Sydney since 1994. They’re known for their minimalist plates, bowls and cups, but this year they’ve added a new range of new porcelain lamps to their collection. Designed in collaboration with industrial designer Zachary Hanna, the three lamps push the boundaries of porcelain production and offer a tactile touch to any space.
Available in six colours, the Pop Lamp is a cordless, portable lamp made from a single piece of handmade porcelain. It can be used inside and outside. The Flared table lamp comes in three colours, with a circular handmade shade that casts a warm glow. The Flared floor lamp features an intuitive tilt mechanism that allows it to be pivoted for closer reading light.

Reform launches COLUMN by Inga Sempé
Danish kitchen manufacturer Reform has collaborated with French designer Inga Sempé to launch COLUMN, a collection of kitchen fronts to customise IKEA kitchens. Embracing smooth curves and a strong sense of materiality, Sempé has created a satisfyingly chunky design with a monolithic central handle. From above the tactile handle has a mushroom-like outline that is easy to hold onto and open, whether used on drawer or doors.
COLUMN comes in white ash, natural oak, pistachio, dark umbra, fresh cream and concrete. I love the subtle warmth of fresh cream and the soft, retro feel of pistachio!
