Covent Garden design store ARAM is hosting a pop-up shop with the folks of Playtype that I think you are just going to love. The Copenhagen-based type foundry is heading to the British capital for three weeks with its bold graphic posters, notepads and mugs, all created with the unique Playtype typefaces.
Born out of a love of typography, Playtype was founded by Danish brand and design agency e-Types in 2010. It creates custom-made typefaces for brands and individuals as well as for their own line of lifestyle products sold from their cool Copenhagen store and online. Although products are sold here and there in shops dotted around the UK, this will be their first proper outpost outside of Denmark, with items gathered all in one place at ARAM’s showroom in London.
‘It is in the meeting of typography and beautiful products that the Playtype universe is created, and with our clean cuts and bold shapes it is clear to see our Scandinavian roots,’ says creative director Rasmus Drucker Ibfelt. ‘True to our name we put a playful spin on the classic world of typography – bringing life, colour and edge to the craft.’
