Hello and happy Friday! Welcome to my Styling the Seasons for August, once again, just in time! August for me has been busy, busy, busy, both creatively and professionally. It’s been all about work this month, but in a good way – in an exciting, buzzing, can’t-wait-to-get-going kinda feeling. Everything’s been going full speed ahead, with multiple projects piling up one on top of the other, new collaborations and long to-do lists. That’s partly why my Styling the Seasons this month shows quite a calm, quiet moment – a wish to sit down for just a moment, take stock and gather all the inspiration around me.
Here’s what’s been going on: this August, I finished a long project to transform my guest room and home office, so I now have a lovely space to work, which I feel always makes a difference to productivity if you have a nice, clean desk. It somehow clears your thoughts as well. There’s also been a nomination for a blog award, a styling challenge and the making of a video for Argos (a big step for a shy person like me, stepping in front of the camera when I really quite like to stay behind the lens…) and the opening of a shop on the blog. There’s also been proofreading for my book on temporary architecture that’s coming out in January, so exciting to see that coming together. And, the best bit of all – I’m starting to transfer my knowledge from my blog and advise people on decorating their homes (if you need any tips on your own home project, do get in touch!). Oh and I have a 9-5 job… my head’s spinning just thinking about it all, thank god I’ve got a holiday planned in September!
So this month, I’ve styled one of my favourite places in my flat, a space I keep coming back to styling-wise – it’s one of the lightest spaces in the flat, and there’s something quite peaceful about a lonesome chair next to that big expanse of white table. Aside from having dinner there, it’s quite nice to get away from the computer once in a while and look out onto the balcony in the living room. To reflect the work-focused month and all the thoughts whizzing round my head, I’ve tried to show what this surface really looks like day-to-day – a flurry of magazines, books and postcards, pages I tear out and pin on the wall for inspiration. Albeit in a calm setting, a space to reflect and regather, a little reminder to stop and refresh.
